Severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and tonight, said National Weather Service Office meteorologists, for areas located along and north of Interstate 40.
The storms are expected to move into the area around 4 p.m.
The main threats are damaging winds and heavy rain which could create a threat of flash flooding.
Meteorologists at the NWS Office in Old Hickory said the storms should move south of I-40 by 8 p.m. and that damaging winds and flash flooding will be possible through midnight.
If you plan to travel, areas south of I-40 will likely see severe thunderstorms again Wednesday afternoon, especially for those places near the Tennessee-Alabama state line. Damaging winds and heavy rain will be the main threats.
