Sherry's run aims to paint town (and social media) green

Just a little pop of color can do so much to brighten any space, and that's why organizers say a lime green bow is the perfect representation for Sherry's Run. Just like the bow, Sherry's Run brightens the darkness cancer brings by offering hope for hundreds of families in the community.

You can be a part of brightening the town by purchasing a green bow and displaying it on your house, car or mailbox. Not only will you brighten the days of those who see it, but you can also brighten the day of a cancer patient in need of hope.

Organizers have also planned a "Show Us Your Green" social media contest this year. Simply take a photo of your green bow(s) wherever you choose to display it, and then share your photo on the Sherry's Run Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account, and you will be entered in a drawing to win free Sherry's Run merchandise.

Green bows are on sale now for $10. They can be purchased when registering for the 14th annual Sherry's Run at www.sherrysrun.org, by mailing in a "Paint the Town Green" bow order form available at the website or by contacting the Sherry's Run office at (615) 925-2592 or at info@sherrysrun.org.

Green bows may be picked up at the Sherry's Run office, located at 110 Babb Drive in Lebanon, on Tuesday, August 8, from 4 until 6 p.m. or on Tuesday, August 22, from 4 until 6 p.m. The bows may also be picked up at the event site, 623 West Main Street in Lebanon, on Thursday, Sept. 7, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 8, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.; or Saturday, Sept. 9, between 6:30 and 8 a.m.

Sherry's Run will also hold a special Spirit Night at Sweet CeCe's on West Main Street in Lebanon on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 4 until 6 p.m.

All of the proceeds from the purchase of green bows stay in Wilson County and surrounding communities to help neighbors who are fighting their greatest battle.

The 14th annual Sherry's Run is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, at 8 a.m. at 623 West Main Street. To register, visit www.sherrysrun.org.

The support of the community helps Sherry's Run assist cancer patients throughout the year with gas, groceries, utility bills, housing payments, prescription assistance, health insurance premiums, medical bills and colonoscopy assistance. To learn more, call (615) 925-2592. To refer someone who might qualify for assistance, call (615) 925-9932 or visit www.sherrysrun.org.
