Shipt to expand grocery delivery to MJ

Shipt, an app-based grocery delivery service, has announced plans to expand its coverage area to include Mt. Juliet.

"When Shipt launched in Nashville last summer, we were quickly embraced by our members who have made grocery delivery part of their daily lives," said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt. "As we grew in the Music City, we continued to hear from individuals who were looking for a service like Shipt but lived just outside of our coverage area. We are excited to respond to their requests and expand our coverage area across Nashville and surrounding cities."

Through the Shipt app, members create grocery lists, note any preferences or substitutions, choose a one-hour delivery window for their groceries to be delivered and pay for their order. Shipt connects members with local "Shipt Shoppers" to shop at the nearest grocery store, hand pick their items and deliver to the member's home or office as soon as one hour after the order.

The Shipt app allows access to all of the items available in the traditional grocery store, including perishable, deli and bakery items. The app features sections designed to simplify members' lives, including health-focused sections, seasonal sections and a "What's for Dinner Tonight?" section with ingredients for quick and easy meals.

To support its expansion in the Nashville area, the company will hire 100 additional shoppers to select high quality groceries and communicate closely with the member to ensure complete, accurate fulfillment of each order. Shoppers set their own schedules and can shop orders as their daily routine permits.

By purchasing a membership, members receive unlimited grocery deliveries for an annual fee of $99. Members receive unlimited free delivery for orders over $35. Members in the expanded coverage area who sign up prior to the Feb. 25 launch date will receive $20 in free groceries for their first order.

In addition to Mt. Juliet, the expanded coverage area will include Gallatin, Hendersonville, LaVergne, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Spring Hill and Thompson's Station. Shipt began delivering groceries from Publix stores in Nashville in July 2015. For a detailed map of the company's coverage area, visit
