Six new road projects slated for Wilson Co.

State Rep. Stratton Bone, D-Lebanon, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced on Thursday six proposed transportation projects slated for Wilson County. “These projects will continue to help make Wilson County one of the best counties for families and businesses to call home,” Bone said. “Improving and expanding our roads says to those looking to move here that we’re committed to making our county one of the best places to live.” The six Wilson County projects in TDOT’s Proposed Comprehensive Multimodal Program include: •    Replacement of Linwood Road Bridge over I-40 at LM 7.81•    Rehabilitation of Carthage Highway Bridge over Spring Creek at LM 20.25•    Rehabilitation of Sparta Pike over Eavens Creek at LM 20.31•    Right-of-Way purchase north of Lovers Lane to SR-26 (US-70)•    Construction of 3.9 miles of Tomlinson Road to the Trousdale County Line•    Preliminary engineering of 4.7 miles of road near SR-171 to SR-109“In order for Wilson County to continue to grow, and for people to enjoy traveling to and from our great community, we must have the best roads and infrastructure in place,” Bone said. “These projects not only put people to work, but they ensure the safety of Tennessee drivers.” The projects are schedule to begin over the course of the next 24 months, with most being completed well before the end of the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
