SOFTBALL -- Central rallies past FCS

Wilson Central 8, Friendship 5
GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central struck for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth, then held off a furious Friendship Christian rally for an 8-5 victory over the Lady Commanders Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Lady Wildcats improved to 14-3 on the season while FCS slipped to 17-4.

The game featured a little bit of everything as Friendship led 2-1 until the Lady Wildcats erupted following by a squeeze bunt by Morgan Stokes that scored Shelby Woodard with the tying run.

Katie Eakes paced WCHS with three hits, including a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.

Brooke Pfefferle added two hits and drove in a run while Savannah Tidwell drilled a two-run single.

Courtney Petty went 3-for-3 and drove in a run for Friendship.Kelsi Dickey went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Tana Whited ripped a solo homer in the top of the second.

Hannah Bodenhorn threw a complete game to get the win for Wilson Central, scattering nine hits and striking out nine. She withstood a last ditch FCS rally that saw the Lady Commanders push across three runs in the top of the seventh.

Whited took the loss for Friendship, working five and two-third, allowing nine hits and striking out five.

Next up for FCS, the Lady Commander will travel to Chattanooga for the YellowJacket Classic, hosted by Lookout Valley High. Friendship is set to play a 9 a.m. game Friday vs. host Lookout Valley. Meigs County will be the opponent Friday at 12:30 p.m.

Wilson Central will be participating in the Bob Jones Tournament Friday and Saturday in Madison, Ala.

Friendship 22, Ezell-Harding 2
ANTIOCH -- Friendship Christan moved to 5-0 in the East-Middle District 1-A of Division II following Tuesday's lopsided 22-2 road win at Ezell-Harding.

The Lady Commanders pounded out 26 hits to back the two-hit pitching of Courtney Petty. Petty went four innings and struck out eight, walking two.

Trevecca signee Tana Whited was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a pair of runs batted in. Brooke Eakes, Petty and Kelsi Dickey had three hits apiece while Sydney McCormick and Jordan Burton each homered.

Disiree Kasper, Hannah Shepherd and Kristen Mason each had two hits for the Lady Bears -- who dropped to 10-2-1 overall.

MJCA sweeps Webb
KNOXVILLE -- Mt. Juliet Christian Academy swept a East-Middle District 1-A doubleheader at Knox Webb Monday, March 30.

The Lady Saints won the opener 8-4 behind freshman pitcher Caitlyn Smith, who struck out eight. Abi Hildabrand and Skylar Bowles had a double.

Sam Stilts picked up the 9-4 decision in Monday's night cap, striking out six. The Lady Saints exploded for eight runs in the second inning.

LHS 4, Mt. Juliet 3
LEBANON -- Lindsay Manning's two-run single keyed a four run uprising in the fourth Tuesday as Lebanon knocked off District 9-AAA rival Mt. Juliet High. With the victory, the Lady Devils improved to 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in District 9-AAA.

Pitcher Anna Smallwood went the distance for LHS, working around 12 hits and a walk - striking out one.

Sarah Aubuchon had a double and a single while Manning, Shelby Jones, Brittany Nagelhout and Manning all singled for Lebanon.

Savannah Sanders worked six and two-thirds innings for MJHS and was tagged with the loss.

Disiree Kasper, Hannah Shepherd and Kristen Mason each had two hits for the Lady Bears -- who dropped to 10-2-1 overall.
