FCS East-Middle district champs

Hosts region opener Friday
DONELSON -- Playing what head coach Jody Atwood called, "our most complete game of the season," Friendship Christian pounded out 17 hits and defeated No. 1-seeded The King's Academy 9-0 Wednesday, May 4 in the finals of the East-Middle district tournament.

The Lady Commanders (32-7-1) put the game on ice with a five-run outburst in the top of the seventh and earned the right to host Friday's 5 p.m. opening game of the region tournament against Franklin Road Academy -- a 15-1 loser to BGA Wednesday.

Senior Courtney Petty dominated TKA (30-5), throwing a complete game two-hitter. She struck out 12 and walked just one as FCS snapped a 14-game Lady Lion winning streak.

"Courtney was in total command," Atwood said, "she three 20 first pitch strikes and just did an exceptional job keeping a very good hitting team off balance."

Catcher Courtney Miles rapped out three hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three runs.

Brice Dabbs added three RBI on three hits while Analise Jarnigan drove in two runs.
