Wilson Central grad, MTSU signee --
The honors keep piling up for Wilson Central infielder Claire Smith who was named June 6 Class AAA Miss Softball for Middle Tennessee by the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association.
The TSCA names a Miss Softball for each of the three classes in all three grand divisions of the state.
An early signee with Middle Tennessee State University, Smith hit .449, scored 48 runs, drove in 25 runs and stole 30 bases.
She was also named the Most Valuable Player in District 9-AAA. Smith will represent Middle Tennessee in the TSCA All-Star doubleheader.
Friendship Christian's Annalise Jarnigan will also take part. The first game will be played 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 at Trevecca University in Nashville.
Smith is the daughter of Shawn and Dayna Smith.
Watertown High outfielder Kaleigha Carter was named Middle Tennessee All-State as were Friendship Christian standouts Brice Dabbs (first baseman) and Brooke Eakes (second base).
9-AAA all-district honorees
A pair of Wilson Countians earned top honors recently when District 9-AAA softball revealed its annual post season all-district team.
Lebanon High's Jody Atwood was voted Coach of the Year while Wilson Central's senior second baseman Claire Smith was voted 9-AAA Most Valuable Player.
In his first year coaching at his alma mater after winning a 2015 Division II-A state title at Friendship Christian School, Atwood led the Lady Devils to a record of 16-18-1 overall / 9-5 in District 9-AAA.

Beech: Kennedy McCurry, Mackenzie Williams, Natalie Lankster, Railey Brown and Hannah Marlar. Beech went 27-10 on the season / 11-2 in 9-AAA.
Gallatin: Sidney Link. GHS closed out 6-13-2 overall / 2-11 in 9-AAA.
Hendersonville High: Amsley Kalamon and Lexi Revis. HHS went 19-17 / 5-7 in 9-AAA.
Lebanon High: Brianna Nagelhout, Anna Bennett and Anna Smallwood.
Mt. Juliet: Tyffany Cargile, Cameryn Cernuto, Kyli Biggs and Alyssa Costley. The Lady Bears went 25-16 overall / 11-3 in the district and reached the Class AAA Sectional game,
Portland High: Mac Fitzgerald. The Lady Panthers finished the season 12-20 overall / 3-11 in the district.
Station Camp: Jordon Hodge and Ella Rhodes. The Lady Bison went 18-18 overall / 4-9 in 9-AAA.
Wilson Central: Kayla Richetto, Brooke Pfefferle and Paige Robinson. The Lady Wildcats went 25-17-1 and 9-5 in District 9-AAA.
