FCS hosts Davidson Academy Wednesday
Friendship Christian will try to get back on track Wednesday with a Division II-A home game against Davidson Academy. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at the FCS softball field.

The Lady Commanders dropped to 19-6-1 on the season after losing both ends of Monday's doubleheader at The King's Academy by scores of 4-2 and 5-4.

Trailing 2-0 in the opener, The King's Academy scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, then walked off with the win on a one-out, three-run homer by Heather Foreman in the seventh.

Courtney Miles accounted for both FCS runs with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.

Pitching dominated as both teams as Haven Taylor went the distance for TKA, scattering four hits and striking out eight.

Friendship's Courtney Petty was tagged with the loss, allowing four hits and striking out seven in seven and a third innings.

The nightcap found Friendship's Annalise Jarnigan rapping out four singles and Sydney McCormick driving in a pair of runs, but The King's Academy scored four times in the fourth inning to come away with a 5-4 victory.

Down 6-2, the Lady Commanders trimmed the margin with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and the seventh -- but could draw no closer.

Clarissa Martin and Kendal Kelsh split the pitching duties for FCS, surrendering 10 hits, but being victimized by three errors behind them.

The Lady Mountain Lions improved to 17-4 with the wins, the first meeting between the two programs since FCS came out of the losers' bracket to sweep two games from The King's Academy in the finals of the TSSAA state championships back in May at Murfreesboro's Starplex.

Friendship Christian will be in action Friday afternoon, entertaining Donelson Christian Academy in a 5 p.m. encounter.
