GLADEVILLE -- Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at the gymnasium of Wilson Central High School for Spc. Stansbery, 21, of Mt. Juliet.
An Automated Technical Data System Specialist on active duty with the U.S. Army, Spc. Standbery died Friday, July 30, 2010 while serving Kandahar Providence, Afghanistan.
Assigned to Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, his previous assignments include Ft. Sill, OK, Ft. Carson, CO and one tour of duty in Iraq.
A member of Cooks United Methodist Church, he was a 2007 graduate of Wilson Central High School, where he was on the wrestling team and a proud member of the Junior ROTC.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Saturday at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet and 12 Noon - 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Central High School.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Lee Stevenson and Dr. Kay Gray. Following the service, Michael will be cremated. His cremated remains will be interred with Full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include: Michael and Tammy Stansbery, and beloved sister, Michelle Stansbery as well as numerous family members and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gromyko Weir and Jeremy Jernigan.
