WBMS Aviator baseball fundraiser -- Winfree Bryant Middle School's baseball team invites the public to a chili supper / auction Friday, Feb. 1 between the hours of 5-8 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students. Children under age six will be admitted free.
Items available for bid include: Nashville Predators signed hockey sticks/pucks, University of Tennessee baseball tickets, a baseball autographed by the Goodletsville Little League team, an autographed Vanderbilt baseball jersey, an autographed baseball bat from Cumberland University's Hall of Fame coach Woody Hunt, a Vera Bradley gift basket, a baseball autographed by the Goodlettsville Little League team and much more. An autograph session is planned with players from Cumberland, Belmont, Lipscomb, Vol State, Trevecca and MTSU in attendance. Guests can bring their own baseballs for autographs or but one on site for $5.
Lebanon coach pitch -- Registration for spring coach pitch baseball leagues (6-8 age group) sponsored by the City of Lebanon's Parks & Recreation Department, will run through Wednesday, Feb. 13. Registration can be completed in person at the Harold Dean Greer Building at Baird Park or by mail at a cost of $40 per player.
On-site registration will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m.-12 Noon at the Greer Building. Visit lebanoncitysports.com for try-out info and rain-out make up dates. Players who fail to try-out will be assigned to a team in a blind draw.
CU baseball kickoff dinner -- The Cumberland University baseball team will host its annual Kickoff Dinner and Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 in the Benton Jennings Center on the CU. The evening will include a silent and live auction of baseball memorabilia, with all proceeds benefitting the CU baseball program.
The Bulldogs will honor former player and current Austin Peay head coach Gary McClure, who is just 24 wins away from becoming the all-time leader in wins in the Ohio Valley Conference. LHS opening day event -- The Lebanon High Blue Devil baseball team is planning an opening day ceremony for the 2013 season, an event to honor Lebanon Sports Hall of Fame coach Brent Foster. The event is set for Saturday, March 9 as the Blue Devils take on Central Magnet from Murfreesboro in a 12 Noon game at Brent Foster Field.
