LEBANON -- Calamity Jane Coley recorded 19 points and seven rebounds and Yalonda Davis added 14 points, as No. 7 Cumberland started quickly and cruised to an 89-19 victory over Spelman College on Friday in the 9th annual Rosa Stokes Classic at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

It was the second win for the Bulldogs (10-0) over Spelman in the last three weeks after CU posted a 105-47 triumph in Atlanta on November 27.

Coley finished 9-of-11 from the field while Davis made 6-of-7 shots. Cumberland shot 53 percent from the field and was 24-of-30 at the foul line as well, including 8-for-8 by Simone Ryan, who finished with 10 points.

TaCouya Allen also had 10 points and London Elie and Tasia Blue each posted nine for CU, with Elie leading the way with seven rebounds along with Coley.

Spelman’s Tiana Welch hit a 3-pointer 40 seconds into the game, but the Jaguars did not score another field goal until another trifecta, this one from Amber Banks, at the 6:37 mark of the period, making just two free throws in-between. SC (1-8) was 0-for-14 with 11 turnovers during the stretch and the Bulldogs put together a 33-2 run during the more than 13-minute span.

Allen made two free throws and hit a pair of 3-pointers to give CU a 20-3 edge and Ryan hit six foul shots and a bucket before Banks’ trifecta. Coley netted seven of her nine points in the period over the final six minutes, including seven of the club’s final nine points of the half.

The Bulldogs shot 52 percent from the field and were 11-of-12 at the foul line while forcing 17 turnovers by the Jaguars, which CU turned into 22 points.

Cumberland pitched a shutout for the first 12-plus minutes of the second period as well before a pair of free throws by Shereva Lewis with 7:47 remaining. Jasmine Taylor’s jumper with 5:36 remaining was the Jaguars first field goal of the half.
Banks netted five points and Taylor, Lewis and Welch each added four while Taylor led all players with 10 rebounds. Spelman shot just 13 percent from the field in the game and committed 30 turnovers, which turned into 41 points for the Bulldogs.

Cumberland faces Berea College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the club’s final game before the Christmas break.
