CU women face Coastal GA in NAIA national tournament PDF Print E-mail

Cumberland will face Coastal Georgia Thursday, March 14, at 5:15 p.m. in the opening round of the 33rd annual NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championships at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky.
 
The CU women won both the regular season and conference tournament in the Mid-South Conference this season and enter the national tournament 30-2 overall and ranked sixth nationally in the final regular season poll released earlier Wednesday.
 
Cumberland is making its fifth appearance in the NAIA National Tournament and its first since losing in the national championship game in 2007.

The Bulldogs reached the national tournament for the first time in 1999 and then played in three consecutive tourneys from 2005-07, winning one game in 2005 and reaching the title game in 2007.

CU is 5-4 all-time in the event with all of those contests played at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn.
