TIGERS OPEN WITH TWO WINS
Watertown High's baseball team opened the 2013 season in fine fashion Tuesday with a 14-4, six-inning victory over Lancaster Christian Academy.

The Purple Tigers pounded out 12 hits in support of starter Dusty Meador, who worked three innings, allowing just one hit, walking four and striking out four.

Watertown took an early 7-0 lead with a four run first and adding three more runs in the second.

Tanner Rowland scored four runs with a pair of hits and stole three bases. Meador helped his owen cause with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and drove in four runs.

The Tigers will be back in action Thursday, March 14 at Monterey and Friday, March 15 at Cannon County High.

FCS PLAYING IN GULF SHORES
GULF SHORES, AL -- Friednship Christian's baseball team will be back in action Wednesday at 3 p.m. as the Commanders take on Lewisburg, Mississippi in the Gulf Coast Classic.

The Commanders stand 0-2 so far after dropping a 9-7 loss to Houston High of Tennessee and a narrow 1-0 loss to Clinton, MS Tuesday.

Austin Godwin drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and a single in the loss to Houston. The big righthander threw seven strong innings with eight strikeouts in Tuesday afternoon's loss to Clinton.

On Thursday, FCS will play Foley, Alabama at 5:30 p.m.

MJ SNEAKS PAST SIEGEL
MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet High opened the 2013 baseball season with a 2-1 road win at Siegel High Tuesday evening.

Cody Carr scored a run, then plated the game-winner with an infield hit in the sixth inning, driving in C.J. Kastner.

Campbell Scholl picked up the pitching decision with a two-hitter, striking out nine with two hit batsmen.

Mt. Juliet will host LaVergne Wednesday in a 6 p.m. game -- a contest that was supposed to have been played Monday.
