MJHS baseball banquet --
The Mt. Juliet High School Baseball Booster Club will hold its annual Dinner Banquet & Auction Tuesday, Feb. 26 at at Victory Baptist Church. This event will offer a family atmosphere with entertainment by internationally acclaimed comedian and motivational speaker, Stephen Bargatze.  Guests will enjoy a banquet style dinner served by team members as well as a live and silent auction. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. for seating. Tickets are $35 per person or a business may sponsor a table of eight for $280 donation. LHS opening day event --
The Lebanon High Blue Devil baseball team is holding an opening day ceremony / field dedication for the 2013 season, an event to honor Lebanon Sports Hall of Fame coach Brent Foster.  The event is set for Saturday, March 9 as the Blue Devils take on Central Magnet from Murfreesboro in a 12 Noon game at Brent Foster Field. Anyone who played or coached baseball at Lebanon  High is invited to participate.

A $100 donation to the baseball progam includes a pregame meal, a “throwback” Lebanon Blue Devil baseball cap, a 2013 season pass, the opportunity to take the field in your old position for Coach Foster’s ceremonial first pitch, tours of the locker room and hitting facility as well as post-game activities. MONTGOMERY, AL -- Jake Collier tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits and striking out five, while Craig Monson and Robert Gonzalez each collected two hits and Monson added a two-run single in the ninth inning in Cumberland’s 4-1 victory Tuesday over No. 9 Faulkner.
 
Collier (1-0) retired the final 10 batters of the game and worked out of jams in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, three times retiring Luis Sanchez with a pair of runners on base and getting a line drive doubleplay to end another frame. The righthander walked three and kept the Eagles hitters at bay, allowing just one extra-base hit, a double to Dauris Holguin in the second inning.

Tigers win 8A title in OT PDF Print E-mail

HARTSVILLE -- Watertown needed an extra four minutes to win a second consecutive District 8A tournament title Tuesday, easing past Gordonsville 66-61 at Trousdale County High.

The win boosted the Purple Tigers to 26-3 overall and sets up a 7 p.m. home game Saturday vs. Pickett County in the first round of the Region 4A tournament.

MJ girls win 9AAA tournament PDF Print E-mail

GALLATIN -- Top-seeded Mt. Juliet overpowered Beech 43-28 in Monday's District 9AAA tournament finals, earning a Friday home game vs. West Creek in the opening game of the Region 5AAA tournament.

Down 5-0 to the Lady Buccaneers early, Mt. Juliet's defense sitffened and allowed Beech just eight more field goals the rest of the way.
