Sprague earns TSAC award

LEBANON -- Cumberland University junior Adam Sprague was voted the TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Week after posting his second victory of the season this past weekend against Iowa Wesleyan.

The lefthander from Winter Park, Fla., tossed six innings, allowing just two earned runs, striking out six and walking two against the Tigers. On the season, Sprague is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.

Cumberland is 6-3 on the season and ranked No. 11 in the NAIA Preseason Polls.

The Bulldogs host a three-game series this weekend against Missouri Baptist. Friday’s game starts at 2 p.m. and Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 12 Noon.

Cumberland coach Woody Hunt, inducted Feb. 20 into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, will be going for career victory number 1,200 this weekend.
