MURFREESBORO -- Wilson Central pounded out 13 hits and rolled to an 11-1 win over Collierville Tuesday afternoon in the opening round of the TSSAA Class AAA state softball tournament at the McKnight Comple

With the victory, the Lady Wildcats improved to 38-7-1 and aqdvanced to a second round game Wednesday at 11:30 against Siegel (34-6) at the StarPlex.

Morgan Powell (21-0) threw a complete game two-hitter, striking out nine. Powell helped her own cause with a pair of hits and three RBI. Lily Bombard had two hits and drove in two runs while Morgan Stokes added a two-run single.

Friendship 4, Davidson Acd. 1
MURFREESBORO -- Friendship Christian rode a four-hitter from Courtney Petty to pull out a 4-1 victory over Davidson Academy Tuesday in the opening round of the Division II state softball tournament at Starplex.

Petty struck out six and worked around a piar of walks as the Lady Commanders improved to 34-8 on the season. FCS will play either Ezell-Harding or The King's Academy in Thursday's 10 a.m. semifinal contest.

Nursing a 1-0 lead, Friendship took control with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Brice Dabbs had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the winners.
