Summer Camps for the kids and a Ball for the grownups

This school year has flown by! But just because schools out, that doesn’t mean the learning stops. The Wilson Living staff has taken on the task of looking for fun and affordable activities the whole family will enjoy. Camps…When it comes to summer camps, be it sports, arts or educational, Wilson County has all you need. Friendship Christian School will be offering a variety of academic and sports themed camps beginning June 2, 2010. The best part of these camps is the cost. At just $20.00 per day, your child can participate in an Invention Science Camp, soccer camp, football camp and many, many more. All camps run through July 29. Wilson County’s newest academic addition, Cedars Preparatory School promises a fun and educational experience for children ages 4-12. Themes include, Bug Mania- a camp that pays tribute to tiny, multi-legged friends affectionately knows as BUGS-, Pirates of the Cedars-where adventure awaits every port where “X” marks the spot and buried treasure is within reach-,Mission Impossible- Suspicion lurks around each corner as mystery and intrigue creep into camp-, Crazy Camp Olympics – A new twist on traditional games-, Beach Week – Sun filled skies and clear blue waters await your arrival-, Around the World in 5 Days –Each day will take us to new and exciting places-, Wild West –  activities include maps to the old Cedars Gold Mine and a little grub to throw on the campfire along the way. Sports Village in Lebanon is offering fun and healthy alternatives for your child’s summer camp experience. Beginning June 14, your child can learn healthy eating tips, try fun new recipes and explore challenging outdoor/indoor activities. Now that we’ve taken care of what the kiddos can do this summer, let’s move on to the adults. The Phoenix Ball is the premier fundraising gala of Cumberland University.  The 27th Annual Phoenix Ball will occur on Saturday, June 5, 2010. The ball benefits - and is held on the grounds of - Cumberland University.  The University, located in Lebanon, was founded in 1842. Cumberland University offers a variety of educational, athletic, and social experiences to enhance learning opportunities. Several members of the Wilson Living staff will be there and we can’t wait to tell our readers all about it.
