The release said that both assailants reportedly restrained the husband and delivered severe blows to his head and upper body area. After the attack on the husband, the release said that one of the suspects reportedly assaulted and forced the wife into another room in the home. The husband was transported to Summit Medical Center for treatment of the injuries and trauma suffered in the attack.
Dets. Bonnie Harris and Thomas Shelton of the MJPD Criminal Investigations Division were assigned the case and immediately began to collect information and evidence that would help identify the suspects. Due to the violent nature of the attack, criminal history of both suspects and one of them reportedly saying he would not be taken alive by police, Metro Special Operations Division SWAT/SRT was called in for assistance when the warrants were served on the suspects who were arrested in Nashville.
The two men have been charged with aggravated assault with possible other charges pending once the case is presented to the grand jury in November.
Hammers and Price are at the Wilson County Jail. A bond of $25,000 has been set for Price, and Hammers is being held without bond.
