Thanks for making Pickett Rucker Chapel fund raiser a success

To the Editor:

The Wilson County Black History Committee sends thanks to all supporters who attended the kickoff fundraising banquet for historic Pickett Chapel on June 12. The fundraiser was a big success, and the committee would like to offer special thanks to WANT-FM Gospel Show hosts John R. and Ms. Dean, who provided entertainment, and Phyllis McCullogh and Martha McClenon for art donated to the silent auction. We would like to offer a special note of appreciation to Sunshine Florist, Cracker Barrel, Ponderosa Steak House and Oakley’s Flower shop for door prizes.

Plans are underway to renovate the historic church on East Market Street, the oldest brick building in Lebanon. After renovation it will become the site of the Roy Bailey African American History Center, and a valuable resource for the entire Lebanon community.
