The shows must go on.
The wintry weather that closed Wilson County schools and businesses this week has had no effect in slowing down Music at the Mill and "Soul of Broadway" events, both to be held on Saturday.
Soul of Broadway promoter Marilyn Bryant said the performance to be held at the Capitol Theatre is still on. She reported to The Wilson Post on Wednesday that group ticket sales have been good, but most ticket sales will be at the door.
The show, coordinated by the Wilson County Civic League and Mitchell Vantrease, will consist of musical numbers historically performed by African American cast members. For more information call 449-0719. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. performance.
Music at the Mill tickets are also still available. The sixth annual fundraiser for McClain Christian Academy will be held Saturday at The Mill at Lebanon, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and dinner being served a quarter after.
Poston said she did have one call on Wednesday morning inquiring whether or not the event would be canceled, but she assured them it is still a "go."
"I sold 10 tickets on Tuesday," she said. "We normally sell quite a few tickets the week of the concert."
This year's lineup of artists and songwriters include Restless Heart, Phil Keaggy, Jonathan Wyndham, The Willis Clan, Lorraine Jordan and The Carolina Road Band and comedian Jeff Allen.
Funds raised offset operating cost at MCA.
"It is our biggest fundraiser of the year," Poston added.
