Swoop into construction sites after hours
Appliances appear to be a hot commodity to petty thieves targeting construction sites in Mt. Juliet.
Mt. Juliet Police officials report a rash of thefts in the city where thieves are pinpointing appliances such as stoves, washing machines and refrigerators.
According to Lt. Tyler Chandler, this year alone over $55,000 worth of appliances have been snatched from two major developments; Glass Creek Apartments at 401 Old Pleasant Grove Road, and Lifestyle Communities on Providence Parkway, among other sites.
"We urge the community to report any suspicious activity at areas under construction," he says in a release.
Along with the appliances, contractor tools have also be absconded.
On Jan. 13, six aluminum doors, a refrigerator and stove, along with a utility trailer and tools were stolen from Glass Creek Apartments new construction. They were worth about $14,000.
Then, on Feb. 26, 11 stoves, six washing machines, four dryers and four refrigerators were stolen from new construction at Lifestyles Communities. Chandler said they were worth about $12,000. Plus, specialty tools were stolen from a contractor at the same place, worth about $29,000.
The thieves reportedly hone in the sites after hours.
Chandler said there was no forced entry. Anyone with information about the construction site theft should call MJPD at (615) 754-2550. You can also be anonymous with information at (615) 754-TIPS.
