Three flags stolen from WC Veterans Park

Veterans Service Officer Bernie Ash reported that three flags were stolen from the Wilson County Veterans Park.

The American, Army and Air Force flags were believed to have been taken from the property on Tuesday night.

"All three were lowered and removed from their hooks," Ash said, adding that most county employees leave the nearby Wilson County Courthouse building around 5 p.m. daily.

Although flags aren't cheap, costing about $150 each, Ash said that it wasn't the monetary value - but the significance of the flags that meant the most to him. "The idea of taking flags that veterans have fought and died for is disappointing," he said. "We have some replacements and we will put them up in a day or two, but it would be great if they would bring the flags back."

The incident is being investigated by Lebanon Police.
