Tigers hope to host Westmoreland Saturday

Weather permitting, Watertown’s Purple Tigers will try to snap a three-game losing streak as Westmoreland comes to town Saturday. The 6 p.m. doubleheader is a makeup date after last week’s scheduled games were canceled over weather concerns.

Coach Matt Bradshaw’s club is coming off a tight 56-50 loss at Jackson County High Tuesday, Dec. 4. Watertown, now 3-4, got 15 points from ninth grader Seth Price. Ty Jobe added 12 and Zach Edwards finished with 10 points.

Mt. Juliet 46, Riverdale 37
MT. JULIET -- Closing with a 20-9 run fourth quarter run, Mt. Juliet’s boys knocked off Riverdale 46-37 in a defensive battle Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Mt. Juliet senior Daniel Schroder led all scorers with a modest 13 points while John Mark Bell added nine points. Reagan Johnson contributed seven points while James Womack, Nolan Chowbay and Austin Brown each finished with five points apiece.

The Golden Bears were scheduled to play at Lebanon Friday night, but that game has been canceled due to weather concerns.

LaVergne 71, Lebanon 51
LaVERGNE -- Host LaVergne dominated Lebanon on the boards and came away with a 71-51 home victory Tuesday, Dec. 3. The Wolverines pulled down 28 rebounds, 12 more than the Blue Devils who slipped to 3-2 on the year.

KeShawn Abston and DaShawn McMurry each had 13 points for Lebanon. Eddie McDaniels added eight and Corvell Huddleston seven. Bryce Lester and Paul Tribble each dropped in a 3-pointer in the loss.

LHS will host Hendersonville High Tuesday, Dec. 10 in a  District 9-AAA doubleheader.

Wilson Central 62, Cookeville 45
COOKEVILLE -- Wilson Central went on the road and pulled off a 62-45 win over Cookeville Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The win moved the Wildcats to 2-1 on the season as tonight’s scheduled  District 9-AAA opener at Hendersonville was postponed.

Wilson Central led 13-9 after one quarter and 28-21 at intermission. Three WCHS players scored in double figures as Ben Palmer had 15, Matthew Hall 14 and Jacob Williams 12 points. A.J. Franklin and Deante Miller each had seven points for the winners.

Providence 65, MJ Christian 56
MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet Christian dropped to 5-4 on the season following Tuesday night’s 65-56 loss at Providence Christian.

The Saints let a narrow 43-40 lead escape in the fourth quarter as Providence closed out the game on a 25-13 run. Twenty-one points from Justus Willis (five 3-pointer) wasn’t enough to rescue Mt. Juliet Christian.

Newman Ward added 14 and Zack Jones chipped in with 11 points. In a schedule change, MJCA will visit Eagleville High on Saturday.

Middle TN Christian 81, Friendship 40
MURFREESBORO -- Friendship Christian slipped to 0-4 on the season following an 81-40 road loss at Middle Tennessee Christian School Tuesday.

Gergory Elliot led the Commanders with 10 points. Joseph McNamee had six points while Brady Stovall and Andrew Wood each scored five points. MTCS put the game away with a 34-7 second quarter run.

FCS is scheduled to host Donelson Christian Friday night at the Bay Family Sportsplex.
