A train versus truck collision on Tuesday afternoon resulted in two people being transported to the hospital for injuries.

The Wilson Post spoke with Lebanon Police Chief Scott Bowen who said a Nashville & Eastern train collided with a flatbed truck on the tracks located on Briskin Lane in Lebanon, leaving the truck driver and passenger injured. The driver of the truck, Adam J. Meyer, was transported to University Medical Center for minor injuries. The passenger, Jose Javier Batrez, of Antioch, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

A police report said Meyer and Batrez had not worn seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Bowen said crews were working to clear the scene and that the trucks wheels were stuck under the train.

Briskin Lane was to be closed through the afternoon.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
