Louise Jones and Sharon Failor (above) work on packaging cookies Thursday morning as members of PHOEBE Ministries treated emergency personnel for their service to the community.

The ladies of the Christian widow’s organization baked some 700 cookies to distribute to local police officers and firefighters.

"This is one of the ways we can say thank you and serve the community," commented member Elaine Pearson. The interdenominational ministry serves as an outreach for grieving and unchurched widows, but also is a fellowship for those involved.
