Henry Co. 11, Mt. Juliet 1 -
PARIS -- Mt. Juliet High's seven-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday as Henry County scored in four of the five innings to claim an 11-1 victory in the Region 5-AAA championship game.
With the loss, the Lady Bears dropped to 25-15 overall and will be on the road today at 5 p.m. (Friday) to take on Brentwood High in a Class AAA Sectional.
Today's winner advances to the TSSAA Spring Fling next week in Murfreesboro.
The Lady Bruins stand 29-9-2 after rolling over Dickson County 11-1 in Wednesday's Region 6-AAA championship game.
Mt. Juliet took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Tyffany Cargile drove in leadoff hitter Camryn Cernuto, who opened the game with a single to right field, with an infield out.
From then on Henry County's Emily Brown held Mt. Juliet in check -- allowing just a single to Kyli Biggs the rest of the game.
The Lady Patriots scored three in the bottom of the first, four in the second, two in the third and two in the fifth to end the game.
Alyssa Costley took the loss for Mt. Juliet, scattering 11 hits while walking six and striking out one.

Goodpasture 2, Watertown 0 -
Watertown High's Tigerettes will travel to Whitwell today (Friday) for a Class A Sectional game with a berth in next week's TSSAA Spring Fling hanging in the balance. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Whitwell enters today's game 20-9 overall after topping Silverdale Academy 6-1 in Wednesday's Region 3-A championship game.
Watertown dropped to 14-14 overall following Wednesday's 2-0 loss at Goodpasture in the Region 4-A championship contest.
Whitwell is on a five-game winning streak.
Goodpasture broke open a scoreless game with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
WHS pitcher Sydney Murrell pitched brilliantly in the loss, going the distance and allowing just three hits -- all singles.
The Tigerettes managed just three hits off Goodpasture pitcher Chloe Winters.
Amber Wright, Jada Moss and Bailey Griffin all singled in the loss as Winters whiffed 11 batters and walked only two.
