To the Editor:
I am hearing a whole lot of disgruntled talk from our TVA customers about the fuel surcharge they add to our electric bills.
To add insult to injury, they have now made it plain that the electric customers will be held responsible for the slag clean up where two holding dams, one in Alabama and the other in East Tennessee broke and flooded the downstream areas not to even mention the value of the fish kills, etc.
The care and oversight of these holding lakes or ponds should be the sole responsibility of the Tennessee Valley Authority. After all, it was not the customers’ fault that these dams gave way.
Makes me wonder if any day now, I won’t receive a bill from TVA to pay for cleaning up the starling poop beneath the power lines where the birds love to sit (tongue in cheek, but disgusted all the same).
