During a traffic stop for speeding, the driver sped away and later fled on foot with passenger. Around 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2015, an officer spotted a dark blue 2008 Honda Civic travelling over 70 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on N. Mt. Juliet Road.

The driver initially stopped for the officer on N. Mt. Juliet Road near Interstate 40, and the officer made contact with the driver. During their brief contact, the driver and passenger were evasive, and the officer spotted multiple open bottles of beer in the car. A backup officer was called for assistance.

Once a backup officer arrived, the driver sped away. The two officers pursued the car to Forest View Apartments, located at 119 Belinda Parkway, where the driver drove the car off the roadway and through the grass. The driver and passenger jumped out of the car once they were near a building, and they ran away.

A perimeter of multiple officers was quickly established around the area of the two suspects' last known location. However, no one was ever located. After an extensive search of the area and notification to the public through Mt. Juliet's text alert system and social media, the search was eventually terminated.

Officers discovered two revolvers, a hunting-style face mask, dark blue bandanna, gloves, live ammunition, spent ammunition shell casings, and multiple open and unopened beer bottles in the suspect vehicle.

The driver was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20's wearing a red sweat shirt, blue jeans, and red/black ball cap. There is not a description for the passenger, except that he was male.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers are currently looking at all the available evidence to potentially identify the two unknown men that fled.

If anyone has a feeling that they possibly known the suspects responsible for this crime, they are encouraged to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at (615) 754-2550. Information can also be given anonymously by calling (615) 754-TIPS (8477) or via the Mt. Juliet Police Department website at .
