“Early detection of colorectal cancer can greatly improve the chances of survival,” said Brenda McFarlin, RN, MSN, Bradshaw Clinic. “That’s why screening tests are especially important; they look for disease in people who do not have any symptoms.”

Sherry’s Run is a Wilson County-based 501(c)(3) organization that is making a difference in the lives of local cancer patients. It was started in memory of Sherry Whitaker who died at the age of 44 from colon cancer.

Through community support and participation of the sponsors and community, Sherry’s Run has raised more than $275,000 during the past four years. Proceeds are used to assist local families affected by cancer, and to help fund cancer research. For more information on Sherry’s Run, call (615) 975-1081 or (615) 218-8810 or visit online.
