Tigers move on to 8-A finals
GORDONSVILLE -- Watertown's boys bolted to a 16-4 lead and never looked back, running away from Merrol Hyde Magnet 80-50 in Thursday's District 8-A semifinals. With the victory, the Purple Tigers improved to 23-9 on the season and will take on Goodpasture in Saturday's 7:30 p.m. tournament finals.

Junior Seth Price ripped the nets for 25 points, knocking down six 3-pointers, to lead all scorers. Austin Lasater added 10 points, Vonte Bates had eight and Ty Love six in the win.

By reaching the tournament finals, Watertown earned the right to host a Region 4-A opener Saturday, Feb. 27.

WHS Tigerettes reach finals
GORDONSVILLE -- Watertown's Tigerettes earned a berth in the District 8-A tournament finals with a 69-27 semifinals victory over Gordonsville Wednesday.

Watertown will take on Goodpasture Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the title. Goodpasture topped Red Boiling Springs 29-25 Wednesday in the other semifinal contest.

Regardless of the outcome, both teams will host first round regional games next Friday.

DaeDae Nunley led all scorers with 22 points while Shelby Mofield knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 15.

Bobbi Staats had 14 and Mya Gaines seven as WHS upped their record to 20-8 overall.
