Veteran LSSD bus driver fired amid investigation

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office is reportedly investigating "troubling information" which led to the dismissal of a longtime Lebanon Special School District employee.

Lebanon Special School District Director Scott Benson offered "no comment" on the identity of the employee - other than it was a male bus-driver with nearly 20-years of service to the school system.

Benson said last week a parent expressed some "concerns about the bus" which led to the employee being placed on administrative leave last Wednesday.

"Upon looking into that, we came across some troubling information," he added. "At that point we contacted law enforcement. We are talking about a law enforcement investigation here, so we really can't give too much information. We are cooperating fully with the authorities and will continue to do that."

On Friday, LSSD made the decision to terminate the driver's employment.

The investigation is ongoing. A call was made to Wilson County Sheriff's Department but not returned before our deadline. Follow-up information will be posted online at wilsonpost.com
