Watertown splits two matches
CARTHAGE -- Watertown High opened the 2015 volleyball season Monday by splitting a pair of matches at Smith County High downing host SCHS 25-14 and 25-22; then dropped a 2-0 match to Jackson County 25-22 and 25-15.
The Tigerettes down Smith Co. 25-14 and 25-22 as Paige Mock led the attack with six kills, three digs, two blocks and a pair of aces.
Bailey Griffin added four kills, three blocks and two aces; Alaina Johnson ripped four kills and added two aces.
Victoria Johnson had 16 digs while Alle Aylor chipped in with four digs.
Jackson County topped Watertown 25-22 and 25-15 in the second match.
Mock served three aces, had eight digs and one kill.
Johnson finished with 11 digs, a kill and an ace while Griffin served four aces and had two kills.
Watertown returns to action Thursday, Aug. 20 at home as Goodpasture comes to town for a 5:30 p.m. match.

WCHS blanks M-Boro Central Magnet
MURFREESBORO -- Wilson Central's volleyball team went on the road and captured a 3-0 victory over Central Magnet Monday evening in the season opener for both programs.
Game scores: 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19.
Megan Belcher led the Lady Wildcats with 18 assists, four kills and a pair of aces.
Delaney McCorkle added seven aces, seven kills and five digs while Averi Usher thumped five kills and recorded two digs.
Kendal Tomlin passed out three assists, served two aces and had eight digs.
Taylor Tucker had five kills, an ace and one dig.
Wilson Central traveled to Trousdale County Tuesday for a tri-match with Trousdale County and Pope John Paul II.
Weekend action finds the Lady Wildcats in Smyrna for the annual Bulldog Bash.

FCS falls in Monday volleyball match
GALLATIN -- Friendship Christian School dropped a 3-2 match at Station Camp Monday in the 2015 volleyball season opener.
Game scores: 20-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-18 and 9-15.
Morgan Vallett led the Lady Commanders with 16 kills and 17 digs while Aja Jones had 13 kills.
Bailey Bryant contributed 17 digs and Madison Bryant passed out 39 assists.
Allie Burge had 16 digs and four service aces.
FCS was scheduled to host Davidson Academy Tuesday evening before playing Thursday, Aug. 20 at University School of Nashville.
The Lady Commanders are on tap to play in Smyrna's Bulldog Bash this weekend.

Lebanon opens season Wednesday
Lebanon High's volleyball team opens the 2015 season at home Wednesday, Aug. 19 with a tri-match featuring Riverdale and St. Cecilia.
Varsity action starts at 7 p.m. in the volleyball gymnasium.
