W. H. James Sr., 82

LEBANON -- Funeral services for Mr. W. H. James Sr. are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Eld. Dewayne Hall officiating.  Interment will follow at the Gallatin Memory Gardens at Crestview.  Visitation Saturday 1-8 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Sunday at Ligon & Bobo.

Mr. James, age 82 of LaGuardo passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at the home of his son in Oak Grove.

Born July 4, 1928, in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Rev. Fred K. and Gertrude Griffin James.  He was a 1947 graduate of Mount Juliet High School and was a member of the LaGuardo Baptist Church.  He was a lifelong farmer, having owned and operated James’ Fruit Stand in Gallatin from 1967-1972.

He also worked at Armstrong Rubber Company for 28 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Gray James on September 5, 2008; sister, Marie Gray; and a grandson-in-law, Dave Bergman.

He is survived by children W. H. (Priscilla) James Jr.; William “Bill” (Peggy Sue) James -- all of Oak Grove; Annette (Horace) Darnell of Lebanon; Debbie Todd of Bethpage; Lynne Lynch and Patricia James -- both of Lebanon; grandchildren: Pennie Bergman, Jessie (Jennifer) James, Amanda (Russell) Breece, Walter Todd Jr., Kenny (Brandi) Lynch, Tammy (Dwight) Prock, Billy (Tamara) James, Samantha (Shannon) Reed, Chris Todd, and Kelly Lynch; two brothers, Clay (Marie) James of White House and Leon (Doris) James of Mt. Juliet; sister Norma (Walter) Andrews of Chattanooga; 15 great grandchildren.

Grandsons and grandsons in law will serve as pallbearers.
