SISSONVILLE, WV -- Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, March 23, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, 6837 Sissonville Dr., Sissonville, WV, for Mr. Smith, 83, of Lebanon,
A native of Charleston, WV, he died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his residence following a long illness.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Church of Christ and was employed in the electrical distribution business for over 45 years.
He retired in 1994 as manager of the Princeton Electric Plant Board, Princeton, KY.
Interment will take place at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
Survivors include: wife of 64 years Kathryn A. Nichols Smith of Lebanon; children Delmar R. (Betty) Smith, Sr. and Walter Wayne (Nan) Smith -- all of of Mt. Juliet; Janice K. Rice (David) McCord of Nashville and Gary A. (Anne) Smith, Sr. of Louisville, KY.
Also surviving are siblings: Willy Frank Smith, Glenn Monroe Smith, James Edison Smith, Wanda Matheney Haynes, Wilda M. Parsons, Verlie F. Payne and Rose Mary Brooks; grandchildren Delmar Ray (Angie) Smith, Jr., Shelia (Preston) Funkhouser, Kenneth Allen Smith, Angela G. (Nelson) Keen, Amy Brady Carpenter, Robin L. Rice, Jr., Ann Kathryn Rice, Gary Alan Smith, Jr., David Nichols Smith and William Tway Smith; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was the son of the late, Glenn Monroe and Bessie Blanche Blackshire Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Paul Smith and his identical twin brother, Wilbur Jay Smith Feb. 24, 2011.
