Central falls 2-0 at Hendersonville
HENDESRONVILLE -- Wilson Central will be on the road for the opening game of the Region 5-AAA baseball tournament Monday evening after falling 2-0 to Hendersonville Wednesday in the District 9-AAA championship game at Drakes Creek Park.

Coach Anthony Ford's Wildcats, 20-10-1 overall, will play the District 10-AAA champion -- Rossview in Monday's regional semifinal.

Rossview (30-10) defeated Clarksville High 9-5 Thursday in the 10-AAA finals.

WCHS was limited to just four hits by Hendersonville, two by pitcher Kyle Schmitt.

"We ran into a pretty good pitcher," Wilson Central coach Anthony Ford said. "We played well on defense, no errors, and put balls in play. They just didn't fall."

Schmitt (7-1) started and took the loss, scattering five hits with no walks. He struck out four.

Cullen Smith (single) and Tony Pfefferle (double) had Wilson Central's other hits.

Hendersonville scored single runs in the bottom of the first and fifth innings.
