Wednesday in Spring Fling
Wilson Central’s softball team returns to the Class AAA state softball tournament for the first time since 2009 thanks to an impressive 10-0 win over Franklin High in a sectional game Friday, May 16.
    
Now 33-15 on the season, Coach Michael Shepard’s Lady Wildcats will open tournament play Wednesday at 10 a.m. against Maryville High (26-9) at Starplex No. 1 in Murfreesboro.
    
The Lady Rebels went on the road to Church Hill and scored a 4-1 win over Volunteer High on Friday, earning the program’s third trip to Spring Fling in the last four years.
    
Win or lose, Wilson Central will be back in action Wednesday afternoon in the eight team double-elimination tournament.
    
WCHS is bracketed with Soddy-Daisy and Collierville, with the first round losers playing in an elimination game while the winners move on to a second round contest. Both games are set for 4 p.m. at -- still at Starplex.

Wilson Central 10, Franklin 0
GLADEVILLE -- Hannah Bodenhorn threw a five-inning four hitter, striking out six, as Wilson Central run-ruled Franklin 10-0 Friday, May 16 in the Class AAA sectional.
    
Bodenhorn got all the support she needed when Morgan Powell clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first, scoring Brittany Wiseman who reached on a single.
    
Central ended the game with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
