WCHS plays Brentwood in state

Wilson Central will open the program’s fourth trip to the Class AAA state tournament Wednesday morning against Brentwood High.
Action tips off at 11:45 a.m. at MTSU’s Murphy Center. Live radio coverage can be heard on WANT FM 98.9 and WCOR AM 1490 via the BlueCross Basketball Network. General admission tickets are $10 per person.
Coach Troy Bond’s Wildcats enter state tournament play 26-6 overall and winners in 12 of their last 13 contests.
Wilson Central’s last loss was a 65-52 decision to rival Mt. Juliet Feb. 15 in the District 9-AAA tournament semifinals at Beech High.
After winning the district regular season with a 12-2 mark, WCHS finished third in the district tournament, but went on to win the Region 5-AAA title with a 50-37 victory over Kenwood.
The Wildcats dismantled Hunters 54-38 March 4 in the Class AAA sectional, earning their state tournament berth.
Wilson Central will have a bit of a revenge motive working in their favor as they take on Brentwood.
WCHS lost 60-54 at Brentwood in last year's Class AAA sectional -- as the Bruins reached the state’s final eight for the first time in school history where they reached the semifinals.
This year, Brentwood (31-2 overall), are making a second consecutive trip to Murfreesboro after downing Kenwood 57-41 Wednesday in a twice postponed Class AAA sectional game.

The last time BHS tasted defeat was a narrow 49-47 loss to rival Ravenwood back on Jan. 31.
Brentwood knocked off Franklin High 52-43 in the District 10-AAA finals.
