Wilson Central stands 2-1
KISSIMMEE, FL -- Wilson Central's baseball team is off to a 2-1 start at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
WCHS opened play Monday, March 13 with a 6-0 victory over TMI-Episcopal (TX) as Wildcat hitters pounded out 10 hits in support of winning pitcher Ryan Hill. Hill threw a seven-inning two-hitter, striking out five with no walks.
Mason Mobley, Chase Ford and Ethan Shelton each had two hits.
Leading 2-0, the Wildcats put the game on ice with a four-run sixth inning.
TUESDAY MORNING, Coach Anthony Ford's squad picked up a 4-1 victory over St. Paul's School (MD).
Starter Andrew Franklin and reliever Dawson Hamilton combined to limit St. Paul's to six hits and no earned runs.
Franklin picked up the decision with five innings of three-hit ball. He struck out seven and walked two. Hamilton closed, striking out two and scattering three hits.
Gabe Jennings a double, two runs scored and reached base two other times on walks. franklin helped his owen cause with an RBI single.
LATER TUESDAY, Wilson Central dropped a 6-5 decision to Corinth High (MS) -- stranding 12 base runners -- in nine innings.
Corinth rapped out 13 hits against five WCHS pitchers and came up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth for the victory.
W. Hudson had two hits and two RBI for the Wildcats -- including a home run.
Wednesday action finds Central playing Taylor Academy (MA) at 1 p.m.
