Wildcats take on Germantown Houston --
Wilson Central's wrestling team will take on Germantown Houston Friday afternoon in a first round match of the Class AAA State Duals.
Action is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Expo Center in Franklin as the Wildcats make a fourth consecutive trip to the state duals.
Central (41-2) enters the tournament seeded second, behind East Tennessee power Cleveland.
The winner of Friday's opener will advance to the second round of the 16-team tournament to take on the winner of the Knox Halls vs. William Blount bout.
Tournament finals are scheduled for Saturday evening.
Wilson Central 52, Rossview 15
CLARKSVILLE -- Wilson Central earned a return trip to the Class AAA state duals by winning the the Region 7 Dual Tournament Thursday, Jan. 22.
The Wildcats defeated Rossview 52-15 in a semifinal match, then was awarded the region title when Beech opted to forfeit in the finals.
Wilson Central had recorded three wins over the Bucs so far this season and both squads, by advancing to the regional finals, had already earned berths in the state dual tournament Jan. 30 and 31 at the Williamson Expo Center in Franklin.
The Bucs reached the region finals with a 58-12 win over West Creek in the other semifinal.
"It's been a great year and winning both the district and region again and making another trip to the State Duals was a goal this team set at the start of the season," said WC coach John Kramer. "It's great for the 12 seniors who have worked so hard the last four years and helped put our team on the map."
Trailing 9-6 to Rossview after a forfeit at 132 pounds, Wilson Central put the match away by reeling off wins in the next 10 weight classes.
HISTORY -- The 2015 region title was the third consecutive for the Wildcats; and came just two days after winning a fourth straight district championship.
