WCSD inmate Lee dies

Jailed on DUI related charges --
A Lebanon man has died after having been found unresponsive while incarcerated at the Wilson County Jail. During a routine welfare check, Wilson County Correctional Officers discovered inmate Joseph Lee, 37, unresponsive in his bed at 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

A release from the Wilson County Sheriff's Department says correctional officers called for medical staff and performed CPR as well as administered the automatic external defibrillator on Mr. Lee, who did not respond.

Wilson County Emergency Management was called to the Jail and Mr. Lee was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Mr. Lee's body will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death

Wilson County Sheriff's Office is working with the local District Attorney's Office and Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death, which is believed to be of natural causes.

Mr. Lee, who lived at 806 N. Cumberland St., was in jail for charges of failure to appear on a second DUI offence, simple possession and DUI following his arrest on Oct. 7, 2014.
