Wilburn Allen Withers, 87

Born Jan. 20, 1926 in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary Hurt Withers. following his military service, he returned home to build a life with his sweetheart, Louise Jackson. He worked for both the Swift Company and Oscar Mayer, retiring after 43 years.

He played the organ, lead singing, taught Sunday School and was a deacon at Hermitage First Baptist Church, where he was a charter member. In later years, he was active in Franklin Road Baptist Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service Wednesday at Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road.

Services will be conducted by Rev. Allen Withers. Interment with military honors will follow at Cowgill Community Cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife of 65 years Louise Withers; son James Allen Withers; daughter-in-law Paula Withers and sister Margaret Gregg.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Withers was preceded in death by siblings Rollie, James, Johnnie, Martin Withers, Sally Withers and Estelle Rector and grandson, Matthew Withers.

Active pallbearers: William Withers, Harold Withers, Ronnie Withers, Sam Crimi, Dennis Dukes, Jason Marlin, Danny Myers and Dr. Barry Stuman. Honorary: will be Dr. James Elrod, Dr. Tod Bushman, Dr. John Coursey, Virgil Darnell and Gary Jackson.

Arrangements are in the care of Bond Memorial Chapel, Mt. Juliet.
