Wilson Central’s season-opening football game with District 9AAA rival Hendersonville will be televised across Middle Tennessee as Nashville’s WUXP MyTV30 premieres its new “Friday Night Rivals” series on Aug. 22.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
Sinclair Broadcasting, parent company of the Nashville TV station, made the decision to move its highly-popular “Thursday Night Lights” broadcast to Friday in order to avoid a conflict with the new package of Thursday night broadcasts of National Football League games.
Coach Brad Dedman’s Wildcats are coming off a 6-5 record in 2013 and a trip to the playoffs where they dropped a 41-0 to Murfreesboro Oakland.
Hendersonville, under veteran coach Bruce Hatfield, went 11-4 last season and played in the Class 6A BlueCross Bowl -- losing 44-7 to powerful Maryville.
