William Opplis "Bill" Ewerling

William Opplis "Bill" Ewerling, age 69, of Hermitage, TN, died Aug. 27, 2016.

Bill was of the Catholic faith and was a 1964 graduate of Antioch High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force and was a member of American Legion Post #88. Bill was a supporter of and a contributor to the American Red Cross, the Nashville Symphony and the Blair School of Music. He loved music, animals and rafting, especially Class 5 Rapids.

Bill was the son of the late, John Leroy and Katherine Frances Holleman Ewerling. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Holleman.

He is survived by children, Jessica (Brandon) Clemons and Christopher (Candi) Ellis; siblings, John David (Jackie) Ewerling and Bunny (Mike) Kemp; grandchildren, Kanton Peacock, Kaleigh Clemons, Tiffany Ellis and Thomas Ellis; niece and nephew, Denise Stagnor and Bryan Slate, and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment will military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Clemons, Mike Kemp and Bryan Slate. Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post #88.
