Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post for Wilson County is Post 5015 in Lebanon. The Post meets at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the Veterans Building at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center. Any veteran who has been awarded a Campaign Medal or Combat Medal for any hostility is eligible for membership, verified by the veterans' DD 214 Form. Presently, Post 5015 is having success in rebuilding its post and becoming active in district and local events. It is not a Lebanon post, but a countywide post. The Telephone Pioneers Cookbooks, Vol. I and III, have been discontinued. There are a limited number left. To obtain one, call 615-310-7080 or 615-828-3147. The proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the telephone museum.

GED/HiSET Prep Classes are offered day and night. The Adult Learning Center is a nonprofit organization providing free GED/HiSET preparation classes and basic literacy classes for the community. Contact the ALC at 615-443-8731 for information. In addition to the 107 N. Greenwood location in Lebanon, day classes are offered in Watertown and night classes are in Mt. Juliet and Old Hickory. Free classes are offered at West Wilson Middle School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Classes are also available in Carthage and Hartsville. Anyone interested in obtaining their high school equivalency diploma should contact the ALC.

Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce hosts Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto from 1:30 until 3 p.m., the last Wednesday of each month, and District 46 State Rep. Mark Pody from 8 until 10 a.m., the first Friday of each month, at the chamber's office at 149 Public Square. Citizens are encouraged to come and share their concerns and views with these elected officials.

Job Seekers, a networking group for the unemployed and underemployed, meets at noon and at 6 p.m., every Monday, at The Next Step Resource Center, 216-B Leeville Pike, Lebanon. For information, email or call 547-9999.

Meals On Wheels volunteers are needed to deliver meals in Mt. Juliet to homebound older adults on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Meals are ready to be picked up by 9:30 a.m., at the Mt. Juliet Senior Activity Center, 2034 North Mt. Juliet Road, and the delivery usually takes about an hour. Routes are typically less than 20 miles of travel. Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 7463 Hickory Ridge Road, Mt. Juliet, has opened a food pantry available to those who have a need. The pantry is open the third Wednesday of every month, from 5 until 6:30 p.m., and is for all Wilson County residents. For information, call 444-2390.

Agape has contracted with Maple Hill church of Christ to provide counseling services in Lebanon. Matt Shoemaker, M.S., will be available for counseling at the church building on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. He sees children and adults. For information, call 547-4244.

A Heart Beat 4 Earl, a benefit for Earl Cox, who is in need of a heart transplant, will be held on Saturday, July 16, at noon at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center Poultry Barn in Lebanon. Music will be provided by Cedar Creek Boys and 12Thirtyone. There will also be food, a live auction, inflatables and a cake walk. A corn hole tournament is also planned, and tournament registration is $50 per team. Cox, of Dry Drip Plumbing, is affiliated with the Wilson County Fair.

Wilson County Minutes Committee will meet on Monday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1 of the Wilson County Courthouse.

Wilson County Steering Committee will meet on Monday, July 18 at 6:45 p.m. in Conference Room 1 of the Wilson County Courthouse.

Rubber Plant Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 23 at noon. It will be held in the East/West Building at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon. Board of Directors of the Joint Economic and Community Development Board of Wilson County will meet on Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 a.m. at the Joint Economic and Community Development Board office, located at 115 North Castle Heights Avenue, Suite 102, in Lebanon.

Child Passenger Safety Education Event, hosted by the Wilson County Resource Coalition, will be held on Wednesday, July 27 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Jimmy Floyd Family center in Lebanon. The event is free and open to anyone - parents, caregivers and professionals. Information will be provided by the Lebanon Police Department's Certified Child Passenger Safety technicians. Wilson County Black History Committee will host a tribute to the Lebanon Clowns Negro League Baseball team on Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. at Pickett Rucker UMC. The team was organized during the 1940s into the late 1950s. The annual Christ Price Athletic Award will be presented. All former members, family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served after the celebration. No admission; donations are appreciated to support the restoration of Historic Pickett Chapel.

Wilson County Board of Education will meet in a regular session on Monday, August 1 at 6 p.m. at the central office, located at 351 Stumpy Lane in Lebanon. The board canceled its regular board meeting originally scheduled for July 11.

Lebanon High School Class of 1986 30-year reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 7 p.m. until midnight at Lebanon Golf & Country Club. Cost is $35 per person. Checks must be mailed by August 1 to: LHS Class of 1986, PO Box 901, Lebanon, TN 37088. The class will also gather on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. for the Lebanon High School football game.
