Wilson County Motors added another General Motors name to its long tradition of being a local family owned and operated car and truck dealership.
The auto dealership, a property of the Bone family since its beginning in 1927, has now been awarded the GMC brand by General Motors.
With the addition of GMC vehicles and trucks, Wilson County Motors now has four auto franchise brands including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Hyundai.
According to W.P. Bone, managing partner, the company plans to house its new franchise on the same property at 1310 West Main Street on which its Chevrolet and Buick franchises are currently located.
The company’s fourth franchise, the Hyundai store, is located in a separate facility at 1506 West Main Street about a mile or so west of the other dealership.
The dealership, started by the late Winstead P. Bone, II; has been managed and owned by the Bone family continuously since its beginning. While W.P. Bone serves as the company’s managing partner, son Mitchel Bone is general manager of the Chevrolet, Buick and GMC store, and son Paine Bone is general manager of the Hyundai store.
