The Wilson Post with University Medical Center will proudly present the inaugural Woman of Wilson Luncheon on Wednesday, May 13.

The invite-only event will be held at Chop House on the Green at Lebanon Golf and Country Club to honor the 49 local women featured in Wilson Post Staff Writer Sabrina Garrett's Woman of Wilson columns for the 2014-2015 year.

Beginning Wednesday, an online poll will be posted at wilsonpost.com where readers can vote for their favorite lady, from the list of 49 honorees, to be named 2014-2015 Woman of the Year. The recipient will be announced during the luncheon.

"We are excited to support an event that celebrates women in the community," said UMC Director of Physician Outreach and Marketing Adam Groshans.

The first Woman of Wilson column was published in the Wednesday, May 21, 2014 issue of The Wilson Post. Garrett was inspired to create the column after returning from maternity leave and noticing friends' #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) posts on Facebook.

"My mother, Pamela Garrett, was and still is a Super Mom. In retrospect, I know she had little time for herself because she was so devoted to raising me - but she made doing it all look effortless," Garrett said. "Returning to work after having my son and trying to balance motherhood, career and personal time as a young mother gave me a new appreciation for all that women do and the many hats they wear."
