Meteorologists said in the statement that precipitation will begin this afternoon, mainly first as a light snow and then possibly changing over to a light freezing rain or drizzle later this afternoon and into early Tuesday morning.
Although roadways are relatively warm, some ice could coat trees and other elevated surfaces as bridges and overpasses especially this evening and overnight.
Although any ice is not expected to impact many roads, a coating of ice on trees could lead to a falling branch potential. Any snow at onset or any ice on elevated surfaces will lead to slick conditions.
The statement added that a Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
