Woman of Wilson: Kaysie Young

"Experience Nashville Tours" founder Kaysie Young spends her days welcoming folks to her adopted home state of Tennessee.

Young was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and lived in St. George after graduating high school. She and her twin sister moved to Middle Tennessee to pursue their dreams of songwriting. It was a dream that, for Young, came true.

"I have had seven songs published and recorded by various country music artists," she said. "One of them featured as a country music video and also sung on the Grand Ole Opry radio show."

Young met her husband, Mark L. Young, in 1995 at a Steel Guitar Convention being held at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. Young is a professional musician currently drumming for country duo Branch & Dean.

After several years of working as a tour-guide in Nashville, Young decided that it was time to branch out on her own.

"I realized that I had the passion and experience to book my own touring services. Therefore, I started my company in the spring of 2015 by first developing a downtown tour called the Famous Footsteps walking tour," she explained. "I also offer my step-on tour-guiding on coaches with out-of-state tourists and school groups."

Young said she loves sharing the history of Music City with others.

"People really seem to enjoy my knowledge about the music industry, and it is very rewarding to know that they're having fun, while learning about the town," she added. "My biggest reward and honor is that I receive many referrals, and repeat customers, for my tours."

In her spare time, Young enjoys horseback riding, hiking and attending concerts and songwriter nights.

She and her husband are animal lovers with four horses, four dogs, six cats and a sheep named "Baa Baa."

The woman Young most admires is music legend Dolly Parton.

"Her rags-to-riches story is very inspiring and her kindness and generosity toward others is amazing," Young said. "I love how her songs have touched the lives of so many people around the world and that she is a strong believer in God. I hope to follow her example of optimism and philanthropy throughout my lifetime."
